MariaMarina Foundation was established in 2009 in memory of Maria Holder and her daughter Marina Brewster, the mother and sister of the Foundation’s President and Chief Executive Christopher Holder.
Maria was born in 1934 in Basle, Switzerland. In 1955 she married Alex Holder. In 1958 our President, Christopher, was born and his sister, Marina, in 1960.
Maria’s passion was her family she believed deeply in the values of education and coined the phrase, “without education you have nothing”. During her lifetime she was active in ensuring those she cared for received the best education possible. Maria lived with cerebral palsy but this did not deter her at all. She was an avid reader and follower of the arts, with classical music and opera being a real love.
Marina was passionate about children, their wellbeing and always wanting to make a positive contribution where she could.
Both ladies died before their time (Marina in 1983 and Maria in 2004) and MariaMarina Foundation looks to recognise their passions and supports worthy causes in their memory.
